A year after announcing her departure from the E! Network, Chelsea Handler is slamming her former employers.

During an interview with TheWrap, the 40-year-old comedian and television host opens up about her professional experience at the network and reveals that she has lost respect for the network.

"I don't have a lot of respect for them," Handler said at TheWrap's first Power Women Breakfast in San Francisco on Friday. "I want to be somewhere where I respect the people I'm working with."

She added, "It was a great opportunity to give my friends jobs, it was a great experience, and I'm grateful and I appreciate it, but it was time to move on. I wanted to talk about things other than Lindsay Lohan, there was only so much I could take."

In June 2014, Handler announced that he would be ending her talk show "Chelsea Lately" after eight years on the air. At the time, Handler said she had become tired of talking about over-exposed celebrities, like Justin Bieber and the Kardashian clan.

"To be quite honest I don't really care about Justin Bieber and I don't want to talk about him anymore," she said. "In order to make that happen I had to just stop doing my show. Straightaway. I've had seven years of being on the show, but I was just kind of over it and tired and I have a really proper new exciting project which will be announced in the next two weeks, which I'm super happy about."

She explained, "You can sit around and complain about all that s**t and the Kardashians all day, but if you're participating in it then what can you do? It really didn't feel great doing the show, and the only way to sort things out was to extricate myself from the entire situation."

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Handler thanked the network for providing her with a platform to share her talent. Suzanne Kolb, the president of E!, described Handler as a "distinct voice" of late-night television, "with her acerbic wit and fearless commentary."

After stepping away from the network, Handler has been involved in a number of projects including a show on Netflix, which is set to debut in 2016, and a stand-up comedy special titled "Uganda Be Kidding Me."
