ABC obviously liked what they saw from their freshman class of shows this season, but not everyone could retain a spot for the 2015-2016 season.

The network renewed eight shows that premiered over the last nine months, but dropped new shows "Forever" and "Cristela" as well as "Resurrection," which wrapped up its second season in January, and the cooking competition series, "The Taste" after two cycles.

The first season comedy, "Cristela," boasted one of the most diverse cast on TV. Comedian Cristela Alonzo created and starred on the show about an ambitious law student whose traditional Mexican-American family objects to her professional dreams.

The procedural "Forever," starring Ioan Gruffudd and Alana de la Garza, faced stiff competition on Tuesdays at 10 p.m. against NBC's "Chicago Fire" and CBS's "Person of Interest." The series ended with can't-die Henry Morgan (Gruffudd) revealing his secret to Detective Jo Martinez, who had fallen in love with the more than 200-year-old medical examiner.
