The CW has officially picked up "The Flash"/"Arrow" spinoff and gave it a proper title - "DC's Legends of Tomorrow."

The spinoff series will feature fan-favorite characters from "Flash" and "Arrow" as well as introduce a few new heroes and villains to the mix, according to multiple outlets. Read below for the formal description.

"When heroes alone are not enough... the world needs legends. Having seen the future, one he will desperately try to prevent from happening, time-traveling rogue Rip Hunter (Arthur Darvill) is tasked with assembling a disparate group of both heroes and villains to confront an unstoppable threat - one in which not only is the planet at stake, but all of time itself. Can this ragtag team defeat an immortal threat unlike anything they have ever known?"

Characters transitioning from the CW superhero shows include Leonard Snart a.k.a. Captain Cold (Wentworth Miller), Mick Rory a.k.a. Heat Wave (Dominic Purcell) and Firestorm (Victor Garber) from "The Flash," as well as Ray Palmer a.k.a. Atom (Brandon Routh) from "Arrow."

"Legends" will introduce the character Kendra Saunders a.k.a. Hawgirl (Ciara Renée) and bring back actress Caity Lotz, whose "Arrow" character, Sara Lance was killed off while her sister, Laural Lance (Katie Cassidy), took over as the alter ego, Black Canary. Lotz's character has yet to be determined.

"DC's Legends of Tomorrow" will premiere this fall on The CW.
