Miley Cyrus enjoys a life where she can safely explore her sexuality without serious repercussions and she wants to extend that opportunity to the thousands of young people in the country struggling with their sexual identity.

While promoting her new Happy Hippie Foundation, Cyrus revealed to The Associated Press that she has engaged in relationships that were not "straight, heterosexual" ones. She realizes that a lot young people live with parents who won't allow their children to explore their sexuality so freely.

"The position I'm in, I feel like I've got a lot of power," she told the AP on Tuesday. "But so many kids don't feel that way. They're under their parents' rule."

Happy Hippie will help homeless and LGBT youth by rallying other young people to fight against the injustices these vulnerable communities face. Nearly 40 percent of homeless teens identify as LGBT, according to Cyrus.

The "Wrecking Ball" singer also defended her topless selfies and dying her armpit hair pink. She calls these stunts a way to draw people's attention so she can then point them toward more serious issues.

"When you have all eyes on you, what are you saying? And that's what I had to ask myself a lot," Cyrus said. "It's like, I know you're going to look at me more if my (breasts) are out, so look at me. And then I'm going to tell you about my foundation for an hour and totally hustle you."

The former Disney star also praised Bruce Jenner as her "hero" for his courage to speak out about his transition and spotlight transgender issues.

As for her own sexuality, Cyrus told Facebook fans on Wednesday that she's "open" to all love.

"I never want to label myself! I am ready to love anyone that loves me for who I am! I am open!" she wrote.
