It was expected Manchester United were going to lose goalkeeper David de Gea because the Spaniard has had a tremendous season and is rumored to be garnering interest from Real Madrid. However, the Red Devils might be able to keep the 24-year-old - under one condition.

Manager Louis Van Gaal recently said Man U have made a contract offer worth "a lot of money" to De Gea as they hope to keep him beyond the 2014-2015 Premier League season (it's believed to be £200,000 per week). In 35 matches this year, the goalkeeper has notched 88 saves (eighth in EPL) and 10 clean sheets (seventh in EPL), which has propelled him into the discussion as one of the best in the world.

Man U is keen on retaining him, but they may have to do something else in order to fulfill that wish.

"Radamel Falcao could remain at Manchester United if David de Gea signs a new contract with the club," writes Samuel Luckhurst of the Manchester Evening News.

"Both Falcao and De Gea are represented by agent Jorge Mendes and United have intensified their efforts in recent weeks to keep their Spanish goalkeeper.

"Falcao, who has not scored since January 31, could form part of an agreement whereby United decide to keep him for a second season to pacify Mendes."

Van Gaal has been openly critical about Falcao and rumors in April suggested the striker could join Liverpool once his loan expires with Man U and that it's unlikely he remains in Old Trafford. The Colombian has scored only four times on 36 shots to go along with just four assists in 24 Premier League games.

However, it appears that has changed.

"United sources insist that 29-year-old Falcao is not certain to leave Old Trafford and his future is intertwined with that of De Gea."

Still, it's unknown what De Gea will decide to do, but former Barcelona midfielder and fellow Spaniard Gaizka Mendieta believes "it is only a matter of time before David de Gea returns to Spain," adds the Daily Mail's Joe Ridge.

De Gea's current deal runs through the summer of 2016, but Real Madrid is expected to make a £50 million bid for him once the transfer window opens on July 1. Man U will need to ensure they lock him up soon or else it's likely he's gone after next season.
