With Mother's Day fast approaching, the Top 6 performers paid loving tribute to their moms and had them participate in the coaches' weekly mentoring sessions on "The Voice" last night.

Each contestant performed two songs, one inspired by their mothers. The choices made the contestants and coaches a little weepy.

"Getting to see them interact with their moms was great," Coach Pharrell Williams told Headlines & Global News. "I got to see the tree and the fruit. I got to see where they came from. Sawyer [Fredericks]' parents saw something in him and the same for Koryn [Hawthorne], both of their mothers are very integral to their lives."

Fredericks and Hawthorne gave four standout performances between them, and their coach was very proud of his young team.

"These guys don't talk about the show in a vein context," Williams explained. "They aren't worried about being on television. Koryn isn't worried about her makeup and Sawyer is not worried about if he's wearing a tie, these are 16- and 17-year-olds that love music and understand that they have something special and different. They slayed it tonight and they will never tell you that."

Coach Adam Levine only has one performer left on his team, but he still believes singer Joshua Davis has high hopes of taking the competition.

"At this point in the season I'm usually losing my mind because I'm more in control of the song choices," Levine told reporters. "But it's not the case this season. I grew up playing sports, so I've seen good coaches and bad coaches. You need to know when to back off and when to be involved; in this case I am pretty good with his choices and I don't want to mess with that."

One person that Levine is happy to mess with is his "frenemy," coach Blake Shelton. Shelton recently relished the fact that Levine had only one team member left, yet the country singer found himself in the same boat this week following last week's results.

"Blake is an idiot, how many times can you say the same thing about this guy?" Levine joked to HNGN. "He's unintelligent, he dresses like a slob and wears half suits and half jeans. Who does that? Who buys a suit and loses the pants immediately and puts on his jeans again? He doesn't have many redeeming qualities."

The "Maroon 5" singer finally let up on his fellow coach. "But I like him. No, I totally love him. It's all out of love."

India Carney - Team Christina

Songs: "Glory" by John Legend and Common/"Lay Me Down" by Sam Smith

Carney chose the Oscar-winning "Glory" to dedicate to her mother. She performed the song along with a chorus, an experience she described as "crazy."

"My favorite moment was 'Glory,'" Carney told HNGN. "It's a beautiful song, and I remember hearing it for the first time on the Oscar's. It immediately drew me in. So to be able to sing it was wonderful and dedicate it to my mom and have her included was really fun."

She continued, "It was my idea to 'unwrap' it. I understand people expect the song to be done a certain way, but growing up with a very mixed musical background and improvisation was a part of me. It's something I continue to do now and then. This was a chance for me to go back to some of my roots and create a melody and compose something. I do write music and arrange it, so it was something I was comfortable with and super exciting to be able to take on something new like that."

Joshua Davis - Team Adam

Songs: "Desire" by U2/"In My Life" by The Beatles

Davis performed two classic rock songs. His coach chose the U2 cover while Davis dedicated "In My Life" to his mother.

"Tonight was great. It was me on stage doing what I want to do and having a great time. It really felt like a show, instead of a competition," Davis said. "Both of the songs represented me yet were two different facets. The thing with the show is that you get these tiny little bites of what people do yet we all have so much more."

Koryn Hawthorne - Team Pharrell

Songs: "Everybody Hurts" by R.E.M./"Dream On" by Aerosmith

Hawthorne enjoyed both her outstanding performances.

"I can't pick which one I liked best," Hawthorne said. "The first one was really emotional and I felt emotionally connected to it as was the second one, but more in a fun way. I liked it in a 'Let's rock out' way."

Kimberly Nichole - Team Christina

Songs: "Free Fallin'" by Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers/"Dirty Diana" by Michael Jackson

Nichole received a mandate from her coach to "have a good time, be free and be happy" with her performances last night. She chose to dedicate the Tom Petty tune to her mother and got to perform one her favorites, "Dirty Diana," after having to put it on the backburner last week.

"I do that song a lot with my band so it was great doing a song I love by the King of Pop," Nichole said. "It's great that Christina had also performed it because we talked about how she performed it as a tribute to Michael. It was cool for her to be excited about me doing it and her advice was, 'Girl just go! Go for it!' That's what I tried to do along with being wild and wonderful on stage."

Meghan Linsey - Team Blake

Songs: "Amazing Grace"/"Steam Roller Blues" by James Taylor

Linsey's emotionally charged performance of "Amazing Grace" went out to two deserving mothers last night. The first was her own mother and the other was for her best friend's mom, who had passed away earlier in the day.

"I felt inspired during 'Amazing Grace,'" Linsey said. "My best friend texted me and said, 'I want you to sing this for my mom tonight.' It was a lot to comprehend and a lot of emotion. I just really tried to tap into it and surrender to it."

Both songs came naturally to the singer, who joked that she feels like she "came out of the womb singing 'Steam Roller' and 'Amazing Grace.'"

She added, "It felt good to do two songs that were that familiar, and they felt like a good representation of me and who I am."

Sawyer Fredericks - Team Pharrell

Songs: "Shine On" by May Erlewine/"Take Me to the River" by Al Green

"I really enjoyed my first song because I really connected to it," Fredericks said. "It was a very emotional song and a beautiful song that I really wanted people to hear. I was really happy to play it for my mom. The second song was as fun to play, it was cool having the band around me and the dancers."

One more contestant will go home on tonight's result show of "The Voice" at 8 p.m. EDT on NBC.
