Las Vegas police officers are trying to reach r&b singer Chris Brown regarding his alleged assault during an early-morning basketball game Monday.

The incident happened at Palms Casino Resort. A man was playing basketball at the said resort when he got into an argument with Brown, and the singer allegedly punched him, CNN reported. When the man tried to defend himself, another man who was said to be with Brown, also hit him.

In an official statement in a news release, the police investigating the case said, "A verbal altercation on the court led to a physical fight and the victim was punched by another male subject who was later identified as 25-year-old recording artist Chris Brown."

The victim adds that he took himself to the hospital and was treated and released after reporting the incident to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Violent Crimes Unit, according to Independent.

Brown denied being involved in the confrontation, his publicist Nicole Perna stated.

The singer has two options regarding the case. He can either sign a citation admitting to the misdemeanor battery and face the charges in court, or he can let the district attorney take the case and decide whether charges will be pressed or not.

Brown is in Las Vegas for the Mayweather vs. Pacquiao fight, and his publicist reported that he is also set to perform at Drai's on May 5.
