The St. Louis Rams made the first big surprise of the NFL Draft when they selected Georgia running back Todd Gurley with the No. 10 overall pick. The move prompted Rams running back Zac Stacy to tweet a message that just said "Yikes" before later deleting it. Now, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Stacy has requested a trade and the Rams may oblige him.

Stacy, 24, had a surprisingly good rookie season after being drafted in the fifth round in 2013. He racked up 973 rushing yards and eight total touchdowns after taking over as the lead back mid-season. However, he failed to carry that momentum into the 2014 season and lost his job to Tre Mason. Stacy totaled just 293 yards and one touchdown on 76 carries last year.

Gurley is still recovering from a torn ACL suffered in November and may not be ready to go for Week 1. But Mason, Benny Cunningham and Isaiah Pead are capable of handling the load until he is ready to return. Given the crowded state of St. Louis' depth chart at the position, it makes sense for them to grant Stacy's request if they can get any value in return.

Working in the Rams' favor is Stacy's manageable contract. He has just two years remaining on his deal worth a total of $1.26 million and would count for only $88,000 in dead money this year.

This draft is deep at running back so the Rams shouldn't expect to get a solid draft choice for Stacy. But if a team misses out on its targets or suffers an injury in training camp then a Stacy trade becomes much more likely.
