Sprinkles the extremely obese cat is starting to lose weight, thanks to the Sea Isles City cat center in New Jersey. 

The 4-year-old cat weighs a whopping 33-pounds, which is the equivalent to a 600 pound person, reported WPVI, an ABC affiliate. 

"The vet said he's the fattest cat he's ever seen," Stacy Jones Olandt from Sea Isle City Cats told WPVI. 

Sparkles was brought to the cat center after her human surrendered her in a home foreclosure, reported Press of Atlantic City. When the cat center came to Sparkles' rescue they had to use a dog crate to transport her because she was so heavy. 

Sprinkles is on a strict diet of canned cat food, but like most humans on new healthy diets she's not totally enjoying what's in her food bowl. 

"So we were thinking she probably would like a Big Mac, chicken nuggets," Jones Olandt told WPVI. 

After Sprinkles gradually loses her weight (she should weigh about 10 pounds) she will be put up for adoption. 

"She has a good future ahead of her, if she loses weight," Olandt told Press of Atlantic City.
