Fans have seen two on screen iterations of Spider-Man/Peter Parker played by Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield so far. As soon as next year they will get a third.

The new Spider-Man is joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe thanks to a deal between Marvel and Sony studios. This new character will be a member of The Avengers and play a key role in the future of the MCU. He will be introduced in 2016's "Captain America: Civil War." But who will "he" be?

A list of five actors rumored to be the finalists for the role surfaced recently (along with a potential new title for the reboot). Now, one name appears to be rising to the top. According to Latino Review, Asa Butterfield ("Ender's Game," "Hugo") is the clear front-runner at the moment.

Of course, this is completely unconfirmed at the moment. But Marvel has reportedly been searching for a Peter Parker who could pass for 15-16 years old. Butterfield, who recently turned 18, has the look of a young high-school teenager.

Can you see him slinging webs next to Robert Downey Jr.'s Iron Man and the other members of The Avengers?
