Nick Jonas grew up in the Disney spotlight where he had to maintain his sexual innocence.

The 22-year-old has shed his purity ring and opened up about his sexual experience so far in his young life. Jonas now feels comfortable speaking about sex, a topic that he had to avoid while a member of the Jonas Brothers and called it "freeing now to be transparent," in the May issue of ELLE magazine.

Freeing is an understatement. Jonas has stripped to his skivvies for a number of photo shoots and bulked up since his boy band days.

He did reveal just how he felt about wearing those purity rings that he and his brothers Kevin and Joe famously sported for much of their teen years.

"It shaped my view of the importance of sex," Jonas told ELLE. "My journey with faith evolved and became more about my personal relationship with God. It was about me being comfortable with my decisions. As a 22-year-old man, I'm a man in all ways, and I'm comfortable with that."

The early public interest in his sex life at age 15 did make Jonas uncomfortable, especially when "South Park" highlighted the Jonas Brothers' purity rings in one episode.

"I wasn't able to enjoy [the episode] when it came out," he said. "But now I think it's hilarious."

The sexy hearthrob has one regret about his first time - his music choice. He described the song playing while he lost his virginity as "depressing," but when asked whether he would listen to his own music while doing the deed, Jonas answered with a definite, "Never."

"That's a no-fly zone! It's so awkward. I've never even tried," he said. "I do think about how many people have had sex to my music. And how many babies have been made to 'Jealous.' It's got a good tempo for sex. "

Jones then joked, "They should be naming their babies Nick or Nicole."
