Longtime Kardashian family friend Kathie Lee Gifford revealed just how Kris Jenner really feels about Bruce's transition from male to female.

Several days after the former Olympian's intense and emotional interview with Diane Sawyer, Kris Jenner is still struggling to come to terms with the fact that her ex-husband of 25 years "is a woman."

Kris refused to verbalize her thoughts on Bruce's transition, but, instead, posted an inspiring and supportive message on Twitter.

"Not only was I able to call him my husband for 25 years and father of my children, I am now able to call him my hero," she wrote.

"The other [wives Chrystie Crownover and Linda Thompson] both fine women, had a long time to get used to this," Gifford said on Monday. "This was new to Kris. She's trying to get her act together. She's trying to be a good friend to him. Trying to still be a good parent. It's complicated in ways that we cannot even comprehend."

Gifford admitted that she was also shocked by the news.

"I never saw this coming, I've got to tell you," she explained on "Today." "It would have shocked me as much if Frank had told me [the same thing]."

Ahead of his interview with Diane Sawyer, Bruce confided in Gifford and the two had a personal talk about his transition, Us Weekly reported.

"Nothing I said, or he said to me, will ever be revealed," she told viewers. "But, I'm glad that we did have a long talk because I was prepared for everything he was going to say and even more, and I am grateful for that because we all want to know how to go forward. We all want to love him through this."

Nothing can stand in the way of a true friendship, but it is evident that Gifford and her husband Frank are more than just friends of the Kardashian/Jenner clan.

Gifford and Frank serve as godparents to the pair's teenage daughters, Kendall and Kylie Jenner, according to Page Six.

"How do you deal with [the news]? The way you do, ultimately, is when you put love first, and try to put yourself in someone else's high heels I suppose," Gifford continued.

"Frank and I send our love and prayers to @BruceJennerFans and the family. God loves you and so do we," she tweeted.

E! network will document Bruce's transition, and will give an up close and personal narrative of both his hardships and triumphs.

"Bruce is incredibly courageous and an inspiration and we are proud to be entrusted with this deeply personal and important story," Jeff Olde, executive vice president of programming and development, told Us Weekly in a statement.

"This series will present an unfiltered look as Bruce boldly steps into uncharted territory and is true to himself for the first time."
