A Missouri woman was reunited with her dog, Tex, after he was missing for four months and embarked on a multi-city journey.

Rachel Kelsey, 23, lost Tex in December when she was side swiped by an 18-wheeler truck while driving in Houston, Texas, where she had moved to from Missouri after accepting a new internship, reported KTUL, an ABC affiliate.

After searching for Tex for hours Kelsey went back home to Missouri, devastated that she would never see her best friend again.

To her surprise, Tex arrived at a Hearne, Texas animal shelter nearly 120 miles from where he disappeared. The shelter was able to match Tex to Kelsey because of his microchip.

"I ran to my dad and started crying," Kelsey told KTUL. "They found Tex!"

Kelsey and Tex were reunited in Tulsa, Okla - halfway between Kelsey's home and where he was found.

"I couldn't believe it," Kelsey told KTUL. "After four months, I had no hope that I would find him, or that he'd be in such good health or anything, so this is beyond a miracle."
