Fashion brand Kipling has signed "Jane the Virgin" actress Gina Rodriguez as its brand ambassador, a press release revealed Tuesday. Her face will grace Kipling's Summer 2015 Campaign that is set to launch in May.

Rodriguez, touted as television's "next big thing," received her first Golden Globe award for Best Actress as the pregnant virgin Jane in The CW's comedy series. Her "happy spirit, girl-next-door sensibility and contagious smile" goes well with the brand's ideals. Earlier, Kipling launched its "Make Happy" campaign that promotes positivity among its followers and patrons. Being its ambassador, Rodriguez will be actively participating in the "Make Happy" movement, with plans of school visits around California.

"Welcoming Gina as brand ambassador for our Make Happy movement is an absolute delight. Gina's approachable personality and carefree style align perfectly with the Kipling brand, and we're honored to have her join the Kipling family," Julie Dimperio, the president of Kipling North America, said in a press release.

Rodriguez, meanwhile, is more than thrilled to become part of the Kipling brand, and said that as a teenager, she saved her allowance to score the cutest Kipling bag she wanted. She still has this bag after 10 years. "Now I get to be a part of this beautiful movement. I love the way life works itself out - it's full circle," the actress said.

Kipling, which originates from Belgium in 1987, makes colorful, lightweight and versatile bags and luggage, as well as accessories, and has become a hit with the teen market and university students. The brand has over 5,000 stores in 80 countries worldwide.
