Ever since its lack-luster performance at this year's E3 conference, fans have criticized Nintendo for its Wii U. The console isn't necessarily to blame, although people have certain gripes with the gamepad and motion controls, the main argument comes from the fact that the Wii U didn't have any major games to speak of. Now those complaints can be somewhat put to rest as "Call of Duty: Ghosts" announced on its official Twitter account that it will be making a version of the game for Nintendo's next generation console.

"We're committed to doing everything we can to support the Wii U," Activision CEO Eric Hirshberg said in a press release announcing the news.

The Wii U version of "Call of Duty: Ghosts" will launch alongside the PlayStation 3, PC and Xbox 360 editions of the game. The game makers have said they plan on incorporating both the Wii U's motion controls and gamepad however they've given no details as to how.

"Call of Duty: Ghosts" will be the only M-rated in Activision's lineup of games announced for the Wii U this year. Other titles include "Wipeout Create & Crash, Skylanders SWAP Force, two ports of "Angry Birds" and a new "SpongeBob SquarePants" title, according to WIRED.

Since it's launch in November, the Wii U has suffered form a lack of games. Although many expect this slump to end with the release of "Pikmin 3" on August 4. "Call of Duty: Ghosts" will be another feather in Nintendo's serious gaming cap.

"Ghosts" will be Infinaty Ward and Activision's first shot at the "Call of Duty" franchise since it wrapped up it's previous trilogy "Modern Warfare." The new game is a bit of a reboot for the series. Meanwhile, Treyarch and its "Call of Duty: Black Ops 2" are still gaining traction in the muiltiplayer market.
