An Omaha man who killed four people in the span of 10 days tried carving "666" into his forehead in what authorities believe was another ruse to delay his death-penalty hearing.

But instead of the number of the "beast," Nikko Jenkins may spend the rest of his life walking around with three upside-down 9s because he was looking in the mirror during the self-mutilation, the Omaha World-Herald reported Friday.

Jenkins, who also has a swastika between his eyes, told a Douglas County judge he attempted to carve 666 into his forehead because he is not getting the treatment he needs for his alleged mental illness- what some psychiatrists said was schizophrenic.

Jenkins claims he hears voices and answers to the demands of a serpent god, according to the Omaha World-Herald.

But other psychiatrists and prosecutors say the 28-year-old, convicted of four murders in 2013, is trying yet again to delay his sentencing hearing.

In 2014, Jenkins mutilated himself before his death-penalty hearing. Douglas County District Judge Peter Bataillon deemed Jenkins incompetent and delayed his hearing for a year, the newspaper reported.

Jenkins pleaded no contest to the deaths of Juan Uribe-Pena, Jorge Cajiga-Ruiz, Curtis Bradford and Andrea Kruger. All victims were killed between Aug. 11 and Aug. 21, 2013.

A three-panel judge is expected to decide on Jenkins' sentencing in July.
