Laura Gómez, who plays Blanca Flores, and other cast members of "Orange is the New Black" walked the red carpet at the Tribeca Film Festival this past Friday to support actor and director Nick Sandow for his new movie "The Wannabe."
Sandow plays Joe Caputo on the Netflix drama, an assistant warden who now has the task of filling Fig's shoes (and running Litchfield Penitentiary) after he discovered that she was embezzling prison funds. He threatened to expose her lies if she didn't walk away from the position.
Caputo, who is often referred to as a man without a plan, wants to do the right thing, but in Litchfield, that opportunity may not exist.
Laura Gómez informed HNGN that there will be plenty of drama in store for Season 3 of "OITNB."
There will be new characters, and some originals who will reportedly step into the spotlight for potential lead roles.
"Did you see Lori Petty in the promo? That was awesome. I can say that she is great this season," Gómez told HNGN on the red carpet before the world premiere of "The Wannabe."
"Season 3 will not disappoint. It's as good, or better, than before. Things are getting steamy."
The show has just been renewed for a fourth season, ahead of the Season 3 premiere, so that's enough of a clue that Season 3 will end in a cliffhanger . . . especially with the new cast additions.
"It's that good," Gómez said, "that Season 4 is already in the works."
Gómez also revealed that she has a great bond with her co-stars on and off the screen, so what we're seeing is, in fact, a natural connection.
"There's such a great energy from everybody. I usually work with 'my tribe,' as I call it, but in general, I have friendships from outside of my tribe. Today, Tanya Wright is here, and she plays Laverne Cox's wife, and she is my very good friend. It's great. I feel truly blessed to be a part of this show."
Blanca Flores is first introduced into the show in Season one, when she is shown hiding in the bathroom stall. Piper is scared of Flores because of her unkempt appearance and dark circles under her eyes. It is later discovered that Flores hid a cell phone behind a brick in the bathroom stall so she could exchange nude pictures with her boyfriend. In Season 2, she is seen working in the kitchen with the other Latina inmates.
When asked whose role she admired in the show, Gómez said, "I love Pennsatucky. She is one of my favorite characters. Love to hate Pennsatucky."
Most fans would echo those sentiments exactly.
Season 3 of "OITNB" will premiere on June 12.
"The Wannabe" chronicles the events of the 1992 trial of John Gotti and stars "Boardwalk Empire's" Vincent Piazza and Michael Imperioli, who is known for his role as Christopher Moltisanti in HBO's "The Sopranos."
Piazza is obsessed with becoming a gangster, and Sandow revealed that the plot derives from his real-life experiences of growing up in Mafia-dominated areas and "the gangster scene" - organized crime was a way of life and people needed to make money, according to Vulture. The film was produced by Martin Scorsese and premiered on April 17.
