A new ball-point pen has been created for those worried about getting lost while camping.

The new multi-tool, called the Endure Survival Pen, can serve a variety of purposes for trips in the outdoors, including starting a fire, catching dinner and firing a flare, according to the Daily Mail.

Nolan Brundige, a healthcare worker from California and creator of the Endure, said he was inspired to come up with the gadget after going on a six-day camping trip and realizing the tools he carried with him were taking up too much space in his backpack.

"So when I got home I went to the drawing boards and what eventually unfolded was the Endure Survival Pen," Brundige said.

Features of the high-tech pen include a metal rod in the outer casing for sparking fires and a 3.5-foot FireCord paracord that can be used as tinder, Gizmag reported. The glass-breaking tip can be removed so you can attach a flare in case you need help from the outside world.

Other pens designed for surviving in the wilderness include the Gerber Impromptu Tactical Pen and the UZI Tactical Defender Pen, but the Endure serves as an alternative with extra tools.

Brundige said the cord can be used as a fishing line or a snare to catch food, and that the pen can shoot bear bangers that make loud explosions to scare away dangerous animals, the Daily Mail reported. The 27-year-old added that the titanium pen will be a hit with anyone who likes to go on adventures in the wild, including campers, hunters, fishermen, backpackers and hikers.

Brundige has started a Kickstarter campaign with the goal of raising $25,000 to start production for the Endure, which will go for $100 once the goal is met. Potential backers have 18 days left to show their support and get their hands on the new survival tool.
