The royal baby's name has finally been revealed as George Alexander Louis! Even though it didn't take the couple long to reveal the baby's name, it holds a lot of meaning. Each name was chosen carefully and well thought out. There are several theories surrounding the meaning behind the regal moniker.

According to People magazine, Prince William and Kate Middleton chose the three names to honor certain members of the royal family.

George, which was among the list of top choices by several polling sites, could be a tribute to the baby's great great grandfather and the Queen's father, George VI. Queen Elizabeth's father whose real name was Albert, chose the name George when he became king in 1936.

"George was a bit of a giveaway-  it was branded around so much and we expected it," Joe Little, managing editor of Majesty magazine told People. "And it is a nice tribute to the Queen's father and grandfather (George V)."

Alexander, according to the magazine, is believed to be a tribute to Queen Elizabeth herself, whose middle name is Alexandra. Louis is said to have been chosen as a remembrance to the Queen's husband, Prince Philip, whose grandfather was Prince Louis Alexander of Battenberg. The name is also a part of Prince William's full name.

People reported that usually the name revealing takes from several days to several months. It took Princess Diana and Prince Charles a week to announce Prince William's name and a month for Prince Charles' parents to announce his name.

Other theories surrounding the baby name is that the couple picked names that reflected the country's history. George is a pretty popular name and there have been 27 monarchs with that name, six of whom ruled Britain, the Christian Science Monitor reports.

The last King George to rule was the Queen's father whose reign ended in 1952.

The other two names chosen also has royal heritage. Alexander has been a popular name among kings for thousands of years with the most famous as Alexander the Great, from Macedonia. Britain however, has never been ruled under an Alexander, the Christian Science Monitor reports.

On the other hand, Louis hasn't been a very popular name in Britain for kings but there have been King Louis' in France, Hungary and Spain.
