Star Wars fans still have to wait eight months for "The Force Awakens" to finally hit theaters, but that wait just got a little easier.

At the Star Wars Celebration festival in Anaheim, Calif. on Thursday, the second teaser trailer for the film was released.

The opening panel at the festival was hosted by the upcoming film's director J.J. Abrams and producer Kathleen Kennedy. The new trailer is the first glimpse fans have at "The Force Awakens" since November of 2014 when the first teaser was released.

Along with the new trailer, a few tidbits of the upcoming film's plots were explained at the festival. ABC News has the details:

On the setting

"...Abrams also revealed that those shots of actors in the desert were not of Tatooine, but a 'new planet.'"

On new characters and plot details

"Abrams also introduced the mysterious new main character including Oscar Isaac, who plays Poe Dameron, John Boyega who plays Finn, and Daisy Ridley who plays Rey -- who all showed up to the event. - "We discover Rey on a new desert planet Jakku, she is a scavenger and completely self sufficient ... until she meets another character and an adventure begins," Ridley said, alluding to Boyega's character."

"Isaac said his character, seen previously as a pilot, is "the best friggin pilot in the galaxy."- "He's been sent on a mission by a certain princess and he ends up coming across Mr. John Boyega's character and their fates are forever intertwined," Isaac added.
