Recently, the “NBA Live 14” team revealed a host of features that will be included in the game. You can get a look at the full list of features here.

I wanted to take a look at one particular feature that will be included this fall which, if done with correctly could become my favorite features in the game.

The first feature is the specific package addition. According to the Twitter interview, 40 players will specific packages and moves in “NBA Live 14.” Carmelo Anthony has already been confirmed as one of the players who will receive his own package.

Done correctly this could either emulate what “NBA 2K” has been doing while EA Sports was away from the basketball gaming world, or it could enhance it.

For the past few years “NBA 2K” has done a good job of mimicking players’ shots, dribbling styles and—for certain players—their dunks.

Hopefully, the packages in “NBA Live14” will take this to another level.

Since he was confirmed, let’s take Melo for example. The New York Knicks superstar is arguably the most versatile scorer in the NBA. He is either quicker than the larger defenders or too big and strong for the smaller defenders. Melo is also an exceptional shooter.

How will "NBA Live" show this in these new packages? It will be interesting to see if Executive Producer Sean O’Brien and his team can correctly emulate Melo’s patented one-dribble-to-the-right-quick-release pull up jumper.” Or the way he drives by defenders, gives them a slight bump and finishes easily at the rim.

The only way “NBA Live” best what “NBA 2K” has already been doing for years, make these 40 packages as specific as possible.
