When it was announced that J.J. Abrams would be helming the third trilogy of "Star Wars" movies a wave of excitement washed over the entire Star Wars universe, people were singing "Jub Jub" with great fervor in the streets. Yet almost Abrams was attached to "Star Wars: Episode VII" there has been talk that he might leave the project.

The third film in the rebooted "Star Trek" series is without a director and scheduled for a 2015 release date, just like "Star Wars." Is it possible that Abrams will turn against the force and return to Trek?

Devin Faraci of Badass Digest has heard rumblings that this is possible.

"Why is it that I keep hearing rumors that J.J. Abrams is on the verge of dropping out of "Star Wars?" This has been something I've heard for a while now, and from multiple insiders. I know that he didn't want to shoot the movie in England and was overruled, but that happened a while ago. This weekend at Comic-Con I continued to hear these whispers."

If Abrams were to leave the franchise it would, to paraphrase Obi Wan Kenobi, be as if millions of fan-boy's voices cried out in terror and were suddenly silenced.

The rumors had enough strength that Lucasfilm issued a statement.

"There is no truth to the rumor," the statement read. "J.J. is having a great time working on the script and is looking forward to going into production next year."

Now that everyone can breathe a sigh of relief there is another rumor circulating that Jonathan Rhys Meyers might be part of the cast of "Star Wars: Episode VII." Rhys Meyers was in "Mission Impossible III" so he has experience working with Abrams, according to E!.

Abrams is expected to attend Germany's Star Wars Celebration on July 26-28. There is speculation their will finally be some cast announcements at the festival, possibly the return of Luke, Leia and Han, or maybe something more than that, according to WhatCulture.
