Director Bryan Singer has confirmed that the character of Angel will appear in next year's "X-Men: Apocalypse" and will be played by actor Ben Hardy, according to Empire.

Hardy ("EastEnders") has been cast for some time now but his character was kept under wraps. As the latest X-Men film gets closer to production, Singer has revealed a few more morsels of information to eager fans. He told Empire that Ben Hardy is most definitely playing the winged mutant who has a significant role in the Apocalypse storyline from the comics.

"Ben Hardy is Angel - I shall confirm it for you," Singer said. "But he's not a very nice Angel! And that's all I'll say..."

Singer's comments and concept art that he revealed for the character hint that he is indeed following the comic storyline. In it, Apocalypse has four evil horsemen to carry out his bidding. He turns Warren Wothington III AKA Angel into Death, a blue skinned Archangel with daggers instead of feathers on his wings and uses him as one of his horsemen. It's very possible that this all will unfold on the big screen.

"X-Men: Apocalypse" will hit theaters on May 19, 2016.
