Famous comedy star Lucille Ball would be cringing if she were still alive. The residents of Ball's hometown, Celoron, N.Y., have been complaining about a malformed commemorative statue for a long time.

"Scary Lucy," as the locals deemed it, was purchased by a private party and put up in a city park in 2009. However, the facial design was so malformed that it disturbed many of the locals. Some locals got together and started a Facebook group named "We Love Lucy! Get Rid of this Statue."

The man who founded "We Love Lucy! Get Ride of the Statue" Facebook group (who would prefer to stay nameless) says that he's a big fan of Lucille Ball's work: "Lucille Ball was not only an amazing comedienne, but she was a stunning beauty. Her sense of humor only made her more beautiful," he told Yahoo News. "This statue looks nothing like the beautiful Lucy we all know. If for no other reason than that... the statue should go.

"I think it looks like a monster.......When you see it at night, it is frightening."

However, the founder isn't sure that the statue can be repaired. "Scary Lucy's" creator, Dave Poulin, is sorry that it ended up this way.

"From the day of its installation," Poulin told The Hollywood Reporter, "I have shared my disappointment in the final outcome and have always believed it to be by far my most unsettling sculpture, not befitting of Lucy's beauty or my ability as a sculptor. Yes, in retrospect, it should have never been cast in bronze and made public, and I take complete ownership of that poor decision."

Poulin told THR that he promises to return to Celoron, N.Y., take down the statue and replace it with one that truly honors Lucille Ball.
