Snapchat's photo functionality has created a lot of interesting new ways to share photos and send messages without worry of wasting space or memory. However, Snapchat has released a new feature that it believes will change lives.

"According to a blog post buried inside Snapchat Discover, a bunch of emojis will start popping up in your friends list starting on Monday," reports Mashable. "The app update also introduces two other features: A new low-light camera mode serves up improved shots snapped in darker settings, and a section called "Needs Love" now appears under "Recents," encouraging users to send snaps to people they haven't interacted with in a while."

This release occurs after Snapchat pulled its "Best Friends" feature last January, which let users record which users they "snapped" the most with. The pull annoyed many users who thought it was a poor move.

There are only six different emojis, and each one is designed to represent a certain relationship:

One significant shift in this feature is that unlike the "Best friends" feature's public presence, the emojis are only viewable by the user.

"The days of being able to stalk your friends and see who they snapped with the most - ex-boyfriend? coworker? - are pretty much over," notes Mashable.

This new feature is yet another move Snapchat is making to improve its security and protect Snapchatters' privacy. Snapchat has changed many things since hackers accessed many accounts and leaked more than 98,000 photos onto the internet. Some other security-related choices included ramping up the security that affects outside developers.
