Jeb Bush speaks Spanish, is married to Columba Bush, a native of Mexico, and even lived in Venezuela once. All that does not make him Hispanic though, despite what he accidentally did on his 2009 voter registration form.

The former governor of Florida, who was born in Texas and is likely gearing up for a run at the White House in 2016, incorrectly wrote that he was Hispanic on the registration form six years ago, according to The New York Times.

In the "race/ethnicity" section of the form, Bush checked the wrong box, according to the voter-registration application.

"It's unclear where the paperwork error was made," spokeswoman Kristy Campbell wrote via email to Politico. "The Governor's family certainly got a good laugh out of it. He is not Hispanic."

Jeb Jr., Bush's youngest son, took to Twitter to make light of his father's mistake.

"LOL - come on dad, think you checked the wrong box #HonoraryLatino," he tweeted.
