Blizzard Entertainment's popular trading card game "Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft" has been a steady success for the company, with its playerbase growing to over 30 million in the last year and having an active esports scene. Now, the game has released an expansion that could change the way fans play forever.

Blizzard released the "Blackrock Mountain" expansion on Thursday. This expansion offers players an opportunity to play a single-player campaign instead of constantly competing with other players. The first wing of five  opened on Thursday, and a new wing will open up every week until all five wings are available for play (just like "World of Warcraft's" normal raid release schedule). Each wing will have players fight a variety of bosses in order to earn 31 new cards that can be used in Casual or Competitive play.

According to Warcraft lore, Blackrock Mountain is home to a long-lasting conflict between the resident Dark Iron Dwarves and a group of invading dragons and elemental creatures. Players will fight many of the iconic bosses and characters that gave the original Blackrock Mountain raid its unique sense of character. The bosses will include classic "Warcraft" characters like the black dragon Nefarion, Fire Lord Ragnaros, and Emperor Thalassian.

Players can spend $24.99 on all the wings, or they can purchase each wing individually for $6.99, or for 700 in-game gold, GameSpot reported.

Blizzard's previous expansions included an adventure based on the classic "World of Warcraft" raid Naxxramas, where players fight off undead forces led by the lich Kel'Thuzad, and an expansion that offered more than a hundred new cards based on the characters and weapons involved in the conflict between goblins and gnomes in the "Warcraft" universe.
