Jordan the dog is making an amazing recovery after his leg was brutally cut off by a homeless person and he was thrown into a Los Angeles river.

Eldad Hagar, of Hope for Paws, recently got a call from L.A. Cloud 9 (a local organization that feeds the homeless) alerting him that a "dog that looked dead" was next to a nearby river.

"I got in the car and I rushed over there," Hagar said. "This was one of the worst things I've ever seen."

Hagar routinely rescues dogs with Hope for Paws who were hit by cars and suffer from accidental injuries.

When Hagar arrived at the scene he expected the abused dog to try and run away when he approached him, but Jordan was too injured to move. At the time Hagar intervened Jordan was already stranded with his cut-off leg for two days.

Hagar brought Jordan to the Veterinary Care Center in Hollywood to have his leg treated.

"[The veterinarians] were amazed that he was still alive," Hagar said. "They're still puzzled about it. They can't believe he didn't bleed to death."

The veterinarians treated Jordan for minor bacterial infections and malnutrition.

A few days after Jordan underwent surgery he happily went to his foster parent Lisa Chiarelli's home, where he met his two foster sisters Lola and Frankie.

"It's so amazing to see him running, happy. He just an amazing, amazing dog," Hagar said about Jordan.

Hagar stayed with Jordan through every step of his recovery. He comforted Jordan while he prepared for treatments at the vet and continues to visit him at his foster home.

Now that Jordan is healthy, Hope for Paws is looking to find Jordan the forever home he deserves.

After Hagar posted the video he shot of Jordan's rescue on YouTube it quickly went viral and he said the rescue started getting adoption inquiries for Jordan from all over the world.

Hagar makes videos of all of his rescues, but he was particularly hopeful that this one would touch the lives of war veterans who lost a limb in battle.

"Initially they [veterans] might not think they can do all these things [after losing a limb], but they might think they can after seeing Jordan," Hagar said.

Jordan's rescue video was just published last week and already obtained more than two million views, which makes Hagar believe that he is reaching his intended audience.
