This caring stray pit bull nursed an orphaned 2-day-old kitten until the Mercy Animal Clinic came to save them both earlier this month.

"Over my 28-year career, I've never seen anything like this," veterinarian Dr. Rick Hamlin told The Dodo. "My gosh, to find this in the wild, that a pit bull and kitten found each other on their own and they connected like they did, it's really something."

The pit bull's milk is starting to dry up, so the clinic switched to bottle feeding the kitten before transferring her to a new home where a mother cat would be able to nurse her, the Mercy Animal Clinic wrote on its Facebook page.

The pit bull and kitten were reunited on March 20, just one day after he was spayed, said the Mercy Animal Clinic. The unlikely friends are always excited to be brought back together!
According to the clinic, a potential adopter is planning on adopting the two friends together.
