The NFL trade rumor to end all NFL trade rumors has reared it's ungodly head again.

The Dallas Cowboys are reportedly interested in acquiring Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson.

Peterson, whose agent Ben Dogra said Monday at the NFL owners meetings in Phoenix that it wasn't in Peterson's "best interests" to remain a member of the Vikings, per a FOX Sports report, has been abundantly clear about his desire to play elsewhere next season.

The Cowboys, according to a report from Jane McManus of ESPN, have been using the owners meetings as an opportunity to look into acquiring Peterson for, what she terms, the "right price."

Peterson, a Texas native, was rumored to have made a phone call to Jones in June 2014 in which he announced his desire to become a member of the Cowboys once his tenure in Minnesota ended, according to a report from ESPN's Outside the Lines.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones just signed former Carolina Panthers defensive end and domestic violence charge target, Greg Hardy to a deal with a base salary of $750,000 but a total potential value of $13.1 million.

With the addition, the Cowboys now have just about $1.58 million in cap space, per OverTheCap.com.

Considering those figures and the fact that Peterson is slated to make $12.75 million in salary and count approximately $15.4 million against the cap in 2015, it's difficult to discern just what the "right price" would amount to.

In order for the Cowboys - should their interest be serious - to actually make a play for Peterson, they'd be forced to shed significant salary elsewhere, whether via players heading off to Minnesota in the trade or by simply cutting a player or two with high cap figures.
