Last month, millions were excited about the potential of Netflix making a TV show that was based on Nintendo's popular adventure series, "The Legend of Zelda." However, nothing was confirmed by Nintendo or by Netflix. Or at least not until recently.

TIME released an interview with Nintendo CEO Satoru Iwaka about free-to-play gaming, the WiiU and many other topics. But the most interesting answer came when TIME's reporter asked Iwaka about the rumored "The Legend of Zelda" TV series:

In early February, the Wall Street Journal reported that Netflix was developing a live-action series based on Nintendo's Legend of Zelda franchise. But Mr. Iwata says those rumors are inaccurate.

"As of now, I have nothing new to share with you in regard to the use of our IPs for any TV shows or films, but I can at least confirm that the article in question is not based on correct information," says Iwata.

While this might be enough to kill a fan's hope, let's not forget that Nintendo has denied such claims before, only to fulfill them later. "Of course, Nintendo has a habit of denying things that then turn out to be totally true. Back in 2012, the Japanese newspaper Nikkei reported that Nintendo would be releasing a second, larger version of the 3DS. Nintendo waved off the Nikkei report, calling it "speculation" - and then, just a few months later, it released the 3DS XL, reports Kotaku.
