Swiss watch maker TAG Heuer announced Thursday that it is working with tech giants Google and Intel to produce a luxury smartwatch.

The partnership was revealed at this year's Baselworld watch and jewelry trade show in Switzerland, where the LVMH watch devision revealed that the device will be powered by Google's Android Wear operating system, according to PCWorld.

However, the features and price of the smartwatch remain unknown, with Jean-Claude Biver, president and CEO of the TAG Heuer, saying the three companies are only revealing "the most important thing, which is our partnership."

The move follows a year after Google announced it partnered with watch maker Fossil Group, which Intel has also announced it was working with to develop wearable products.

Biver said TAG Heuer could have chosen to work with Apple on a new watch but chose not to because the Cupertino, Calif.-based company is already making smartwatches, BBC News reported. TAG Heuer decided, instead, to form a partnership with Google since the search giant isn't working on such a device.

The partnership also gives companies the chance to work with Hublot, Zenith and LVMH's other brands, Bloomberg reported.

Biver, who has been involved in the watch-making industry for 40 years, said his announcement at the trade show was his "biggest ever" and predicted the watch would be the "greatest connected watch."

As part of the project, TAG Heuer will take care of the watch's design and manufacturing, Intel will be responsible for the device's SoC platform and Google will provide the software, Bloomberg reported.

"When I think about the watch, it's always been a marriage of beauty and utility," said David Singleton, the head of Google's Android Wear development. "We're going to do that with our partnership."

TAG Heuer, Google and Intel will reveal more details about the smartwatch at the end of the year, which is when the device is planned to be released.
