With the Duchess of Cambridge past her alleged due date of July 13, the buzz around the highly anticipated royal baby is ever-increasing. As the press continues to camp out in front of the luxurious Lindo wing at St. Mary's hospital where Kate Middleton will give birth, retired English soccer star David Beckham has some suggestions for the name of the future heir to throne...and it has to do with him, of course!

"David's not bad," the midfielder said jokingly during an interview with Splash News. "I think they should go for David." Beckham and his wife Victoria (aka "Posh Spice") chose unique and far less conventional names for their own children: sons Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz and daughter Harper.

Hundreds of bets have been placed on everything from the name and sex of the baby to its hair color, eye color and height. So far Alexandra is a popular choice for a girl and George for a boy, though the royal couple doesn't yet know the sex of their baby, as they've elected to wait until the birth to find out along with the rest of the world.

"They're going to be amazing parents because they're so loving towards children," Beckham said.

As for when the royal baby will finally arrive, no one is certain, and the palace has declined to comment on any speculation. Over the weekend, Prince William attended two charity polo matches with his brother Prince Harry, while the Duchess's sister Pippa Middleton partied in Vienna at a posh wedding, causing many to speculate on whether the true due date was in fact July 13.

Are the royals keeping the due date to themselves for the sake of privacy?

"Privacy is key for Prince William as he saw the way his mother, Princess Diana, suffered at the hands of the paparazzi, and he wants to make sure this does not happen to his wife or his own children," Joe Little, managing editor of Majesty Magazine, told Reuters recently.

In the meantime, the Duchess has relocated to her parent's home in Bucklebury, Berkshire as her temporary "Nott Cottage" residence lacks air-conditioning, and temperatures in England have soared to a record-breaking 89.4 degrees this summer.

"It was just too warm in Nott Cott," an insider told US Weekly. "She decided to spend the weekend with mum and dad. Much more comfortable."

Middleton is reportedly "excited" but "nervous" about going into labor, as she plans to give birth naturally barring any complications. As for her husband, Prince William is reportedly "relaxed" with plans to arrive in London with a police escort as soon as his wife is ready to deliver.
