"The Voice" caught fire during the third installment of "Battle Rounds" on Monday night.

Twelve contestants went note for note against each other in the ring, and with so few "steals" left in play, it was make or break for many hopefuls.

Team Pharrell Williams pitted Briar Jonnee, 20, against Caitlin Caporale, 23, to open by performing "Falling" by Alicia Keys. Pharrell chose Caitlin, which resulted in Briar's exit.

The "Happy" singer's choice garnered high praise from Adam Levine who stated that Caitlin could win.

"To hear that was awesome," Caitlin told Headlines & Global News. "Especially with Adam not being my coach, that was real validation for me."

Team Adam's choice of Jack Gregori, 37, versus Barry Minniefield, 53, followed with Joe Cocker's "Feelin' Alright." The spirited performances by both men left Adam with a tough decision, but he awarded Barry with a trip to the next round and sent Jack packing.

"I'm throwing the knives away right now," the professional chef admitted after advancing.

Katelyn Read, 25, and Treeva Gibson, 17, killed it on their performance of Robert Palmer's "Addicted To Love," thanks to some crazy advice from coach Christina Aguilera. The lone female coach let the ladies loose and had them screaming in rehearsals.

Christina chose Treeva and let Katelyn go. The winning Treeva tells us that she was a little surprised by Christina's unconventional advice during the rehearsal process.

"It was a little uncomfortable, but when Christina tells you to scream, you do," she said with a laugh. "It helped, but I don't think I'll be screaming for any upcoming performances, it's not good for my voice."

For Team Pharrell's second matchup, Kimberly Nichole, 33, faced off against Lowell Oakley, 19, and the two provided the night's most edge-of-your-seat moment. Following an incredible rearrangement of Elvis Presley's "Hound Dog," Pharrell created the longest contestant pick in "Voice" history, which resulted in nearly everyone needing to pee.

"It was a surreal moment," the victorious Lowell said. "I didn't expect the performance to create such a stir. It was wild."

Christina kept Kimberly alive using her last steal on the tutu-wearing singer. "It was a humbling experience. The fact she saw something special in me, I am beyond grateful to still be on the show," Kimberly said.

Coach Blake Shelton picked Breanna Yeager, 19, and Kelsie May, 16, to battle by singing "Fancy" by Reba McEntire. Kelsie triumphed over the departing Breanna and ended the night on an even higher note, when Reba sent out this tweet after their performance.

"To see she said we did a 'great job' meant everything. Getting validation from her is such an honor," Kelsie said.

Team Christina chose Clinton Washington, 26, and India Carney, 21, to close the show with a performance of "Stay" by Rihanna and Mikky Ekko. The coach had another difficult decision to make after a stellar performance by both singers.

She finally chose India, but Adam quickly scooped up Clinton with a steal. The "Maroon 5" frontman didn't keep her for long when Pharrell pushed his own steal button.

"That experience was mind clearing," Clinton said of the night's only double steal. "It was exciting and humbling to have them position themselves to steal me. After having only turned one chair in the blind auditions I felt I rectified by that and proved myself."

The final installment of Battle Rounds continued on Tuesday. Check back at Headlines & Global News to find out who will move on to the Knockout Rounds.
