Robert Durst, the subject of HBO's documentary "The Jinx," has been the biggest name in news since his arrest on Saturday coincided with the series' finale a day later. On Tuesday, the Associated Press accidentally dragged Limp Bizkit lead singer Fred Durst into the mess.

Media reporter Jim Romenesko noted on his blog that a mistake regarding the identity of both Dursts, who are not related, was first brought to his attention by Eric Roy, an NPR afternoon host.

On Monday night, the AP sent out a newsbrief, which Romenesko reported only went out on the California wire, wrongfully identifying Robert Durst as "the former Limp Bizkit frontman"

The AP corrected its mistake on Tuesday morning, when it sent out the following note:

Being technical, the AP should send out another correction too. Fred Durst is not the "former" frontman of Limp Bizkit.-- the band is still active and he is still the lead singer.
