The CW's potential spinoff to the shared universe of "Arrow" and "The Flash" just got another popular recurring character on board. Dominic Purcell - who plays Heat Wave on "The Flash" - has joined Brandon Routh, Wentworth Miller, Victor Garber and Caity Lots in the upcoming new series from "Arrow" creators Greg Berlanti, Andrew Kreisberg and Marc Guggenheim, Deadline Hollywood reports.

Purcell will continue to play Mick Rory, a criminal with a flair for fire who teams up with Wentworth Miller's Captain Cold to wreak havoc. DC Comics/Warner Bros. is attempting to build a large shared universe of heroes and villains on the small screen and this new project, which is rumored to be launching next season, will continue to build on that (along with a possible crossover with CBS' "Supergirl").

This spinoff will also mark a reunion between "The Flash" and "Prison Break" stars Miller and Purcell.

Routh and Garber will also reprise their roles in "Arrow" hero Ray Palmer/The Atom (Routh) and "Flash" character Dr. Martin Stein (Garber). It is unknown if Lotz will continue to play the Black Canary, as her character Sara Lance was killed off and her sister took up the hero's mantle.

Garber's Stein will be without Robbie Amell, who portrayed Firestorm in "The Flash" because he did not sign on to the new project. Deadline reported that the spinoff series will feature three major DC Comics characters who have not yet made their television debuts.
