"Glee" actress Lea Michele has remained silent and asked for privacy following the death of boyfriend and co-star Cory Monteith.

"We ask that everyone kindly respect Lea's privacy during this devastating time," her rep said in a statement.

While Michele is staying quiet, a friend spoke about her reaction telling The Daily News, "She was shaking when she heard the news. She is devastated."

The couple, who had been starring in the FOX hit together since 2009, officially began dating in 2012.

"I don't even remember a time when he wasn't my boyfriend," she told Marie Claire of their relationship in December. "No one knows me better than Cory. No one knows what it's been like to go through this more than he does.

"Feeling like you have that net underneath you allows you to jump higher and go farther. He makes me feel like I can do anything," she said. "For the first time in my life, I feel really, really, settled and happy. I feel like the luckiest girl in the world."

Michele loyally stuck by Monteith when he announced in April that he would be entering rehab to seek treatment for substance abuse.

"I love and support Cory and will stand by him through this," she told People Magazine at the time. "I am grateful and proud that he made this decision."

Monteith, 31, was found dead in a Vancouver hotel room Saturday. Circumstances regarding the cause of death have not been discussed, but autopsy results are expected to be released early this week.

"Everyone is in shock," a source told E! News of the rest of the cast's reaction to Monteith's unexpected death. "To say that Cory was much loved on the 'Glee' set doesn't even begin to do him justice."
