I'm not sure how to put this, but Will Ferrell is kind of a big deal.

Ferrell had a very funny idea the other day. I laughed about it earlier.

I'm not quite stuck in a glass case of emotion over it, but I'm certainly excited.

Ok, enough of that.

From "Kicking & Screaming" to "Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby" to "Blades of Glory" to "Semi-Pro" to a recurring character on the HBO series "Eastbound & Down," Will Ferrell has shown a deep-seated affinity for anything and everything sport.

It's no surprise then - though still odd and yet strangely endearing - to find out that Ferrell has teamed up with the MLB, HBO and "Funny Or Die" to simultaneously create a new special and raise money for cancer patients based around appearances at five separate Cactus League games on Thursday wherein Ferrell will be playing all 10 positions, according to a report from Bob Nightingale of USA Today Sports.

Ferrell will play shortstop for the A's, catcher for the Giants, third base for the Reds and he'll take the mound for the Dodgers. He also plans to umpire a portion of the Dodgers/Padres game, according to a report from Yahoo! Sports.

MLB Commissioner Rob Manfred released a statement on the joint venture, per Yahoo!...

"Spring Training affords an appropriate setting where our game can serve as the backdrop for an event that will benefit organizations that fight cancer. Will is a big fan of our game, and many of us in baseball - among our clubs, players and our millions of fans - are big fans of his. Major League Baseball is happy to take part in what will surely be a fun and memorable day for a great cause."

Check out the full schedule of Ferrell's appearances below.

He'll reportedly be traveling by helicopter to at least one of the locations and all of the game-used memorabilia will be auctioned off with the proceeds going to Cancer for College.
