HBO is making a movie on the famous 1973 tennis match between Billie Jean King and Bobby Riggs, and the network is eyeing Elizabeth Banks and Paul Giamatti to play the lead roles.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, no deals are done but Banks and Giamatti are who the cable network is hoping will play King and Riggs, respectively, in the film based on "The Battle of the Sexes."

The script for the untitled project will be written by David Auburn and Tom Hanks will executive produce it through his film company Playtone. Banks will also get an EP credit on the film.

King was 29 years of age and the No. 2-ranked female tennis player in the world when she beat former Wilmbledon champion Riggs, who was 55 and retired, in the famous tennis match.
