A pit bull with bullet wounds found tied to a set of railroad tracks in Florida was saved before it was too late.

Cabela the pit bull was found and rescued by Tampa police after neighbors called 911 to report the sound of a gun shot on March 4.

Tampa police were able to save the pup from the tracks before a train came, reported CNN. Police quickly rushed Cabela to a local vet when they rescued her because she was suffering from three bullet wounds - two in the neck and one in the shoulder.

Cabela was stabilized and named by the Tampa Bay Veterinary Emergency Center, where the caring staff tended to her wounds.
Cabela will unfortunately need her front right leg removed because of the gun shots, but Dr. Jamie Davidson told CNN she expects her to be fully rehabilitated within a week.
Despite the hardships Cabela went through before arriving at the vet - who will be picking up the cost of her medical bills - she is friendly and loves humans.
"Really, after everything that this dog has gone through ... she's the sweetest," Davidson told CNN. "I mean she's not angry with people. She's not growling. She's been really really good."
Once Cabela fully recovers, she will be put up for adoption so she can finally find the loving forever home she deserves.
The investigation to find the person who harmed Cabela is ongoing, according to the Tampa police Facebook page
