Cate Blanchett has adopted a baby girl and named her Edith Vivian Patricia Upton.

The star of Disney's "Cinderella," who is married to Andrew Upton, already has three sons, but has longed to increase the size of her brood, according to Fox News.

Blanchett has said she and her husband wanted to expand their family, but never specifically said they wanted to add a girl to their all-boy family. Blanchett and Upton have been busy raising three sons: Ignatius Martin, 7; Roman Robert, 10; and Dashiell John, 13, as reported by InStyle Australia.

"I'd love to have more children," she told InStyle. "Just when, I don't know. But the thing is, we hadn't planned any of the others. They just popped out. So you shouldn't overplan these things. If it happens, it would be great."

Baby Edith's name was initially reported incorrectly and the couple issued a release correcting the error, according to USA Today.

Blanchett's PR representative Stephanie Gonzalez told Fox News that no other details would be provided on the adoption.

Blanchett, 45, has won two Oscars for her work in "Blue Jasmine" and "The Aviator." She is the daughter of an Australian teacher and a Texas advertising executive.

Her husband is a 49-year-old playwright, and the couple is currently working together on an adaptation of Anton Chekhov's "The Present" at the Sydney Theatre Company in Australia, according to the theatre's website.

In fewer than 20 years, Blanchett's career has spanned a remarkable range. She has played everything from rebellious journalists ("Veronica Guerin," "The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou") to mystical characters and soothsayers ("The Hobbit," "The Gift"), according to IMDB.

Blanchett will be seen in Disney's "Cinderella," next.  She puts a new spin on the role of the wicked stepmother to Downton Abbey's Lily James portrayal of the lead character.
