Actor and comedian Adam Sandler certainly wasn't laughing when he was nearly attacked and eaten by a cheetah during a private African safari, though he did joke about it later during an a recent appearance "The Late Show With David Letterman," US Weekly reports.

In the crazy clip Adam shared on the talk show, the star is seen crouching in front of a pool while a big cheetah lurks in the background before leaping onto him. "A very nice guy let me in with the cheetah and said I could feed the cheetah with my hands, and something went a little bit wrong," Sandler told Letterman. The actor said he was warned not to get too close to the cheetah pool, explaining, "They said you were not supposed to bend down low with the water," which is exactly what he did before the cheetah pounced.

Luckily, a big cat expert was right next to him and pulled the cheetah off of Sandler before he became its next meal.

"My friends say I played that pretty cool but I had a stiff neck at the time and when he jumped on me I just thought 'Oh my neck,'" Sandler said. "All I was going to do was let him eat me. There was not one part of me that was going to fight back. I was like, 'So this is how I'm dying. That's great.'"

Though the 46-year old actor came out unscathed, he admitted he was "very nervous" as it all happened so fast. "You were remarkably composed," said Letterman, to which Sandler replied,"Yeah, I played it off good."

Sandler's latest film, "Grown-Ups 2," hits theatres tomorrow, starring Sandler, Chris Rock, David Spade, Salma Hayek and Kevin James.
