The New York Yankees try to avoid three straight losses to the Kansas City Royals on Wednesday.  The game starts at 7:05 p.m. ET.  Watch the live stream HERE.

The Yankees have managed one run in each of its previous two games against the Royals.  Making it even worse is the fact that the Yankees (48-42) are struggling at home.  The team's last three games mark the first time since 2005 that the Yankees have scored one or zero runs in three consecutive contests, according to the Associated Press.

Loaded bases on Tuesday weren't enough to earn the Yankees more than one run.

"Any time you put four hits in an inning, you think you'll get more than one run," Yankees manager Joe Girardi told reporters.

Scoring has been the Yankees biggest issue over the past handful of games.

"The last three games we've had great pitching performances and we haven't been able to score runs and it's frustrating," Yankees slugger Travis Hafner, who's in a 1-for-17 slump, told reporters.

New York has its best chance to end its latest rut when Royals pitcher Wade Davis takes the mound.  Davis (4-7, 5.42 ERA) has allowed opponents to bat .322, the highest average right now in baseball.

Davis has fared even worse on the road, posting a 6.81 ERA.  If the Yankees wanted even better odds, Davis is 2-4 with a 5.80 ERA in seven starts against the club.

Ivan Nova (3-2, 4.09) is slated to start for the Yankees.  In his last start, a 3-2 win over Baltimore on Friday, he allowed only three hits.  He's 1-1 with an 11.88 ERA in two career starts against the Royals.
