For those wondering if Washington Redskins owner Dan Snyder will be butting out of the team's personnel decisions anytime in the near future, the answer seems to be a resounding "no."

The Redskins, according to a report from Dianna Marie Russini of NBC4, will be among a number of NFL teams trying to lure massive Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh into the fold via a huge contract offer once free agency opens in March.

For those of you with the name "Albert Haynesworth" suddenly reverberating through your head, you're not alone.

There are several eerie similarities between the two players.

Haynesworth was 28 when he struck it rich in NFL free agency - Suh will also be 28. Both scouting reports describe a dominant defensive tackle known for a propensity to take plays off and disappear for stretches of a game. And both boast a personality most easily described as brash and intimidating.

Their bullying, bordering on menacing, attitudes are a large part of how they thrived in the league, but it's also gotten them into hot water.

Haynesworth was suspended an unprecedented five games in Oct. 2006 for stomping on the head of former Dallas Cowboys center Andre Gurode.

Suh has now faced discipline ten times in his NFL career, having being fined eight times and suspended twice, though the second suspension was subsequently overturned.

Still, despite the similarities and despite Suh's mercurial personality, he's a massive, physically overpowering player that demands constant double teams and draws the focus of the oppositions blocking scheme, freeing others to make plays even if he isn't able.

By most accounts though, Suh is set to break the record for biggest contract ever handed to a defensive player in the NFL - kind of makes sense why he's testing the market, huh?

If the Skins and Snyder - who allegedly has no hand in personnel decisions, though that theory has come into question time and again during his ownership tenture - along with head coach Jay Gruden and new GM Scot McLoughlan are successful in their pursuit of Suh, it'll be a huge get for the team but will come at a steep price, much like Haynesworth not all that long ago.
