Elisabeth Hasselbeck is leaving "The View" for a role as a co-host on Fox News Channel's morning show "Fox & Friends," execs from both shows have confirmed.

Hasselbeck, who has been known for her conservative ideology since joining "The View" in November of 2003, is thrilled about the new position.

"I have been a long-time fan of 'Fox & Friends' and am excited to be joining their team in September," she said in a written statement from Fox News Channel. "It is an honor to call the Fox News Channel my new television home."

Hasselbeck will replace current "Fox & Friends" co-host Gretchen Carlson, who will be getting her own daytime show, according to Fox News Channel.

"Elisabeth's warm and engaging personality made her a star on 'The View.' She has proven to be an excellent conversationalist and I am certain she will make a great addition to our already successful morning franchise," Fox News Chairman and CEO Roger Ailes said.

Before making a name for herself on "The View," Hasselbeck was best known for making it to the final four in the second season of "Survivor".

During her time on the popular ABC show panel, Hasselbeck interviewed politicians such as President Barack Obama, George W. Bush, Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter, and was always outspoken on topics like war and women's issues.

"For a decade, Elisabeth Hasselbeck has brought her passion and strong beliefs to 'The View.' We watched her journey from newlywed to motherhood, an Emmy Award-winning talk show host, author, entrepreneur and activist," ABC said in a statement. "She stood behind her political views even if they were not the most popular opinions at the table never shying away from voicing a difficult question. We thank Elisabeth and wish her luck as she begins this new chapter of her career."

Executive producer Barbara Walters also weighed in on Hasselbeck's departure, describing the 10 years they spent together on the show as "wonderful."

"We will miss her and wish her everything good," she said

Though Hasselbeck will not appear on Fox News Channel until the fall, today (July 10) is her final day on "The View, according to ABC.
