After dedicating himself to a physically and emotionally grueling role as Stephen Hawking in "The Theory of Everything," 2015 Academy Award Best Actor winner Eddie Redmayne will play a far less demanding role in his next project.

The Englishman has signed on to voice a character in the upcoming "Thomas the Tank Engine and Friends" 60-minute DVD called "Sodor's Legend Of The Lost Treasure," according to Metro.Co.UK.

Redmayne will not voice the titular character Thomas. Instead, he is lending his talents to a new talking train engine named Ryan.

The actor has always been a fan of the children's series.

"I grew up loving to watch Thomas and his pals getting caught up in unexpected and mischievous adventures," Redmayne said. "I jumped at the opportunity to get involved and what fun it was. I have never voiced an animated character before, and I had a complete blast."

The DVD will be released in September.

Redmayne beat fellow frontrunner Michael Keaton to win the Oscar for Best Actor last Sunday.
