A Minnesota puppy rescued from a burning dumpster is making an excellent recovery at the South Hyland Pet Hospital.

The puppy, who was named Phoenix by Act V Rescue and Rehabilitation, was brought to the non-profit organization earlier this week.

When Act V Rescue and Rehabilitation heard Phoenix's story for the first time, they were an "emotional wreck," according to a Facebook post

Phoenix's fur was shaved down by a woman named Vickie Schulz, a veterinarian from Act V Rescue and Rehabilitation, so she could assess his skin, according to the organzation's Facebook. His knees and two of his paws appeared to be the most severely burnt.
The organization also noted that he was five months old and was nearly starved to death when he arrived at their facility.
Although its only been a few days, Act V Rescue and Rehabilitation is already saying that Phoenix is looking "brighter."
Act V Rescue and Rehabilitation is working with police to find the person responsible for the incident, according to CBS Local
