A number of Lady Gaga's music videos almost seem like an audition for a part in the FX anthology series, "American Horror Story," and it worked. Creator Ryan Murphy has cast the pop singer to star in the next season.

The "Artpop" singer announced made an eerie introduction in a new video announcing the title of the fifth season. Gaga wears an elaborate black mask and curls her five fingers, denoting season five, into her signature monster claw. She then unzips the mask and delivers the title name, "Hotel."

No details of Gaga's character have been revealed, and FX has not announced who will join her in the latest installment of the horror anthology. "Hotel" will likely star cast members from previous seasons, as has been tradition for the show.

"AHS" will mark Gaga's first major TV role. She previously lent her voice in an episode of "The Simpsons" and appeared un-credited in an episode of "The Sopranos." Her other acting credits include movies "Machete Kills" and "Sin City: A Dame to Kill For."

Murphy has confirmed that all the seasons are interconnected. The latest season, "Freak Show," also provided a clue for the fifth season when Maggie handed a cup of coffee to a police officer and the camera gave a close up to the top hat image on the cup.

"There's definitely a rhyme or a reason and a connectedness to all of these seasons, but in the same way, they're standalones, which is the fun of it. But it is a puzzle," Murphy told Entertainment Weekly in October.

"Freak Show" recruited new cast members such as Michael Chicklis, Finn Wittrock and Patti LaBelle. The season also saw the return of Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Kathy Bates and Angela Bassett.

"American Horror Story: Hotel" will premiere in October.
