A K-9 dog from Wilmington, Ohio was safely reunited with his team after missing for two months.

During the search for Karson the dog, officers turned to Facebook to find their beloved and dedicated team member. Over the course of the search the page accumulated almost 28,000 followers.

Karson was finally found on Sunday by Volunteer and photographer Pam Jones and her husband while they were driving along I-71 North, reported WLWT, an NBC affiliate.

The news was later confirmed on the Facebook page.

"I took my camera out and that's when I was taking pictures of (the) dog and I went, 'It's Karson' and I called 911," Jones told WLWT.

Jones told WLWT she felt that finding Karson and returning him to the department felt like "winning the lottery."

She snapped the photo below of Karson recognizing the officer's truck who came to finally bring him home.

Karson's old team were esctatic when they arrived at the scene and identified the dog as Karson.

"Getting the furry boy home is just a loss of words," Sgt. Ron Fithen told WLWT. "Just being there at the moment when I met eyes with Karson knowing he was coming home today that -- that has made my year."

Although he lost 14 pounds during his journey and was stuck outside during brutally cold nights, the strong pup is resting up at home and expected to return to full health, according to his Facebook page.
