Little by little details are beginning to emerge about what may have happened the morning Bobbi Kristina Brown was found unresponsive at her Georgia home. The 21-year-old daughter of Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown was discovered face down in a filled bathtub on Jan. 31.

She was rushed to the hospital and placed in a medically induced coma and has been in critical condition ever since. Family sources told People Magazine that Brown allegedly used heroin and Xanax in recent months and was also a heavy drinker.

The source said Brown was often slurring her words and appeared to be high at lots of times.

"How thin she had gotten is an indicator," the source told People. "This girl was trying hard, but she didn't have any support system. She was still dealing with a lot of grief over her mother."

Another family source told the magazine that Brown had sought help in rehab several times since her mother's death in 2012. Reportedly, she was also "distraught" over the three-year anniversary of Houston's passing.

On Feb. 11, 2012, 48-year-old Houston was found dead in a filled bathtub at the Beverly Hilton Hotel. A coroner determined the cause of death was accidental drowning but said cocaine use and heart disease also contributed.

Earlier this week, Brown underwent a tracheotomy so doctors could relocate her breathing tube. Family sources told People that the procedure was "normal" but necessary because doctors didn't want her to develop an infection.

"The tracheotomy is a different place for the tube to go," the source said. "Everything else remains the same. It's a waiting game. The family is hoping and waiting."

"It's a normal procedure to have the tracheotomy because if you have a breathing tube down there for a long time, it can cause an infection," the source added. "She is still critical and we don't know what the outcome will be. No one is giving up on this kid."
